Burstfire - Primer Pocket Gauge Set

GO GAUGES:
  • Never guess again if your primer pockets were properly reamed or swaged.
Include large & small primer pocket gauge.
  • Enlarged body, curved (go gauge) / Swirl (no-go) design for a secure grip to be held by hand.
  • It can also be attached to an existing industry standard 8/32 threaded hand tool handle, to maximize comfort.
  • We all want a tight primer pocket, that will not loosen up before our brass fails. Especially if you use expensive brass.
  • Using small primer pocket as an example. Our small gauge is made to 0.1725. Variation for small primers is 0.1745 - 0.1755 in diameter. ***Majority of small primers will be 0.175.
  • We have found, a .175 primer, can be inserted in a .1725 pocket on a press, but may meet some resistance at .1755 (Will not work in most cases if hand priming. In this case simply set up the reamer / Swager to go just a tad bit further).
  • ***Proper use of gauge: Make sure the gauge can be freely inserted into the pocket, without sticking / without requiring any force to push it all the way in or pull all the way out.

NO-GO GAUGES:

  • No-Go Gauges are made .0005 over max pocket dimensions. If the No-Go Gauge can be inserted, it indicates your primer pocket may be too loose for some primers. It is strongly recommended at that point to either recondition your pockets, or discard/recycle the case.
  • At times, the No-Go Gauge may be partially inserted into the primer pockets. That is NOT an indication of a loose primer pocket. It has to be fully inserted, without any resistance.

If you want the highest level of precision and control, this is it. But keep in mind there are variations from brand to brand, and lot to lot. Cup thickness is a factor in if it will fit or how easily it will fit as well.

Works well

Havent used large go/no go set yet but small primer pocket set performs as advertised and gives me confidence pockets not too small or too large.

Very helpful tools !

I like these . The idea of precision is to check check and verify all process steps. These add to evaluation and acknowledge the machining is correct

Great product

I use the go gauge to make sure the primer pockets have been properly swaged. Works great for that.

Go No Go Gauge for Primer Pockets

These gauges are all you need to make sure your primer pockets are at the right size for the primer - especially good for quality control on 223/556 range brass.

Burst fire go and no go gauges

I highly recommend the go and no go gauges especially when you have to swage your military 223/556 cases

To go or not to go

A very handy little bit of equipment, I have only used it once while checking a couple of hundred cases that have had multiple firings with top end loads, and I was able to identify one case with a border line primer pocket, very easy to use and well worth the money

this tool is great to make sure you don't ruin an expensive primer on an out of spec primer pocket- this is a must have tool.

I thought I ordered one large and one small of these gages I go two gages both are large primer pocket gages they only measure.0015 to.002 in the difference there is not .005 different in this gages, this is a waste of money, I got them of Amazon, they are not precision gages.

Good for 5.56 vase prep

Got these to check the primer pockets after removing primer crips. I have the go and no-go gauges and they work as advertised. loose or bad fitting primes are undesirable and potentially dangerous. These are good tools for reloaders

Go No-go gages and Reamer

I wish I had those years ago. They save you money and a sure you are good to prime your brass.
I love the Primer Pocket Reamer. It cut better and faster then the other one and lost longer too.
Thank you Burstfire

Primer pocket go/no-go gauges

I never thought I would need these. But, I was wrong. Loading for consistency in accuracy made me change my mind. I wouldn't handload for long range without them ever again. I would highly recommend.

They work

The primer pocket gage work good. I would prefer for the go and no go gauge to be on the same handle. I put the gage on one of my wood handles. It works ok.

Gauge

I was more than satisfied with my exposure to Burstfire. I ordered "stop" and "go" gauges and one seemed to be a duplicate, and being a neophyte in this particular arena of handloading, I contacted Burstfire and the analysis was brief, accurate, and the resolution was completed by sending me the proper and intended size that corrected the quandary.

Go and NO GO Primer Pocket gauge with handles

I have been a hand loader of over 40 years, and I never understood why some Large Rifle primers seat so easily you cant even feel the primer enter the pocket. These gauges took away all the mystery and the doubt. These gauges are a MUST, if you are serious re loader, and do not want to damage your Bolt face with a loose primer. Do not hesitate!! get a set of these NOW!!!!! Lenny

Best tools for the serious reloader

I reload pistol and rifle rounds…a lot of pistol/rifle rounds. Since I needed a way to check primer pockets on large/small pistol AND large/small rifle, I looked for a solution that was simple but extremely accurate.

I have tried several other mfg products but they seemed to be tight or loose.

Burstfire had these and listed sizes that I verified accurate! Now I can check brass before finding out a primer falls out easily.

If you try these (and you should) get the handles too. They are NOT plastic, but metal (aluminum, I think). Best feeling handles ever!

Great support too. I asked a few questions before ordering and got fast responses. Ordering was quick as was shipping. Couldn’t ask for much better.

Now if Burstfire could only solve the current shortage on primers and other reloading components…
